Step 7: Connect everything and finish

Final step! Now you will connect all components, tidy the cables, and get your GBIKE 1 ready for its first ride.

Connect everything​

Identify the cables​

All cables and connectors are labeled. Use the labels to connect the right cable to the right port on the controller.

Typical connections:

  • Motor, thick cable, 3 phase wires + Hall sensor -> Motor port on the controller
  • Throttle -> Throttle port
  • Ignition lock -> Ignition or key port
  • Battery -> Battery port, connected last!
Plug and play

The connectors are designed to fit only the correct port. If it does not plug in, do not force it. Check that you have the right connector.

Tidy up​

Put on the connector covers​

When all cables are connected, put the plastic caps or covers over the connectors on the controller. This protects against dirt and contact with live parts.

Zip-tie the cables​

Zip-tie all loose cables together and secure them along the frame.

Tips:

  • Avoid loose cables that can get caught in the wheel or chain
  • Leave a little slack at the handlebars so the cables do not stretch when you turn
  • Hide the cables along the frame tubes for a cleaner look

Start your GBIKE 1!​

Everything is mounted and connected. Time for the fun part!

Mount the battery​

Slide the battery onto the mounting plate until it clicks into place.

A small click is normal

You may hear a small electrical click when the battery connects. That is completely normal and happens when the system receives power.

Lock the battery​

Lock the battery with the key so it sits securely.

Turn on the ignition​

Turn the ignition key to the right to turn on the system.

Ready!​

Your GBIKE 1 is now on and ready for its first test ride!

Pre-ride checklist​

Go through the following before you head out:

  • Torque arms: Are they secure? Are the hose clamps tightened?
  • Wheel nuts: Are they properly tightened on both sides?
  • Brakes: Do both brakes work? Do they bite properly?
  • Tire pressure: Is the tire inflated to the correct pressure?
  • Cables: Are all cables secure? Is anything hanging loose?
  • Gears: Do the gears work correctly?
  • Battery: Is it locked? Is the charge level sufficient?
