About us
Gbike AB was founded in 2024 in Stockholm/Uppsala by tech enthusiasts Max Mazzola Svadling and Pontus Varghav. The core vision is to offer high-quality, high-performance electric vehicle components with great customer support and short delivery times — in a market where this is rare.
We also develop and sell our own kits. The idea is to make it possible for everyone — from dedicated EV enthusiasts to generally handy people — to build a seriously fun electric vehicle in a single day, without months of research, special orders from manufacturers in China, or unnecessary hassle.
Our story
Our story with custom-built electric vehicles started more than 5 years ago when Max built a simple — and perhaps somewhat boring — e-bike to ride to his summer job. After using it for a while and reading extensively on EV and e-bike forums, he decided to build something new, this time something that would meet every speed and acceleration requirement imaginable.
On a downhill bicycle with custom-designed CNC-machined suspension built for enormous torque, he built a new e-bike — or rather an electric motorcycle — capable of 16 kW and 280 Nm at the rear wheel. He special-ordered the drivetrain parts directly from the factory, and built the battery from cells imported from an EV bankruptcy estate in England.
This "bike" certainly met every speed and acceleration requirement he had — but only after countless hours reading on EV forums, long conversations with manufacturers, help machining the suspension from his old high school workshop, and a considerable amount of money. The bike also ended up a bit bulky, partly due to its somewhat excessive power, and partly due to what components were available at the time. It was a rewarding experience that taught him a lot, but it was undeniably frustrating at times and needlessly complicated.
The idea behind Gbike and our kits is simple. Gbike should be the solution to these problems. Our mission is to make the EV hobby more accessible to more people.
